Every now and then Disney creates a worthwhile kids show, and Phineas and Ferb is one such show. The cartoon has well developed characters and always has a wholesome undertone without ever preaching.  But the driving force behind every episode is the two main kids constructing something wild every day throughout the summer.

Legos is a natural fit, and should create a “Phineas and Ferb” branded construction set. It needs to be more of the free play bucket-of-bricks variety as opposed to the scripted specialized pieces models that Lego seems to sell so many of these days. A simple branding plus either a book of how-to-build many things or a solid co-branded online offering could help a young generation discover how cool Legos really are. By branding the bucket they would be creating a profit center out of their loss leader. They need to maintain the plain vanilla bucket too, but I think there are plenty of parents that would be swayed by the Phineas and Ferb brand.

I fear this idea because the Disneyfication of everything turns out badly, and I love my Leogs. I don’t feel too bad about the suggestion as it may be too late already; their relationship has already begin with the Toy Story Lego product line.

My favorite character in the show is Dr. Doofenshmirtz, the mad scientist with his off-the-wall evil plans. There should be an expansion set with his lair, Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated. Then I can build my own Evilbusinessplaninator out of Legos. Mwah Ha Ha Ha… I can’t wait.
